Magical Matcha

I was recently introduce to Starbuck's Green Tea Latte.  It became my new favorite until I read of all the sugar and not so great ingredients in it.  This triggered me to search how to create my own green tea latte, which ultimately lead me to this magically ingredient called Matcha.

Matcha is a fine ground Green Tea.  It is unique in that, it is, the only type of tea where the whole leaf is used.  Matcha Green Tea was originally used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.  Not only is it delicious, but it has an array of benefits.  These include: Energy and Metabolism Boosts, Increased Focus, Increased Skin Heath and is loaded with antioxidants (great for detoxing the body).  Matcha can be used in baking and smoothies but the main use for it is to drink as a tea.  In my case I turn it into a latte.  Here is how it's done:

1. Put a 1/2 teaspoon Matcha powder in your mug.  You then mix in 2 tablespoons of water and what you should get is a dark olive green liquid.

2. Heat your choice of milk (I typically use Almond Milk).  You can learn how to froth your milk without a machine here.  Then you add the Matcha mix to the milk and your latte is done!  You can also add your sweetener of choice, if desired (I use Agave Nectar).
